Volunteering
It's all about fun, teamwork and experience. Our volunteers say that they feel part of a team and get a lot out of the experience. We have training for all the jobs that need doing and loads of laughs doing it.

Volunteers are always welcome to help at cafe-club nights:

  • In the kitchen
  • At the soft bar
  • On the door
  • Dressing the venue
  • Organising the entertainments
  • Promoting the events
  • Stage management during events

Volunteers also welcome in other roles:

  • On the steering group - helping develop and direct the Serenity Cafe
  • As peer supporters and recovery coaches - a new training programme is starting in 2010
  • Developing Serenity Cafe's programme of activities (such as our women's group, football team and other interest groups)

You gain:

  • Friendship and fun
  • Giving and getting back as part of a recovery community
  • Skills and experience you can use for your personal development or as a step towards work
  • Training and support
  • We are working towards offering accredited training in community development

Before and after - and then our volunteers relax and share a meal before the fun starts!
